The Shifting Space Around Us

2014-2019

The Shifting Space Around Us is a large-scale video installation and live, open-set performance concept. First conceived as a public, behind-the-scenes film set for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2014, the project invited the public to watch performers and crews create choreographed sequences amid industrial apparatus—an explicit “peek behind the curtain” into the McMillans’ set-driven filmmaking.

Two years later, the artists presented a monumental, two-channel gallery installation at Ortega y Gasset Projects (OyG) in Brooklyn, where the edited work enveloped viewers in what the curator described as an emotionally buoyant, filmic environment.
